About the Course
Pre-Requisites
1. Be an invested Master Guide or one currently in training.
2. Have completed all the six levels of the Pathfinder ministry.
3. Other Requirements
(I). General Requirements
- Know, sing, or play and explain the meaning of the Pathfinder Song from memory.
- Know the composition and proper use of your national flag.
- Know the composition and proper use of the Pathfinder flag and Unit Guidon.
- Make a written or oral presentation on respect for God’s law and civic authorities giving at least
- Ten principles for moral behavior.
- Complete the Stewardship Honor.
(II). Spiritual Discovery
- Choose one of the following Old Testament characters: Joseph, Jonah, Esther, or Ruth.
- Discuss/Outline Christ’s loving care and deliverance as depicted in the story.
- Read to understand Ellen White’s first vision and discuss/state how God uses prophets to
- Present His message to the church.
- Read about J. N. Andrews and his pioneer work. Discuss the importance of mission service to the
- Church and why Christ gave the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 18-20).
4. Complete the Christian Citizenship Honor if not previously done.
5. Read the books of Proverbs, Habakkuk, Isaiah, Malachi, and Jeremiah and outline major themes
or complete the Junior Bible Year reading program with a proof of evidence of your study.
6. Read the book Steps to Christ and summarize its key themes in not more than 2 pages essay.
(III). Serving others
- Bring at least two visitors to Sabbath school or Pathfinder meetings.
- Participate in an outreach activity and bring a non-SDA friend to participate or observe.
- Enroll a new member in Sabbath school, Pathfinders, or Bible correspondence course.
- Conduct two Bible studies with NonSeventh-day Adventists.
- Help plan and participate in at least four meetings of youth evangelism or mission events.
(IV). Friendship Development.
- Demonstrate good table manners with a group of persons of various ages.
- Discuss and demonstrate respect for your parents/guardian and what they provide for you.
- Earn one of the following honors: a. Christian Grooming and Manners b. Family Life
- Role-play and contextualize the story of the Good Samaritan to re-echo its impact in present time
- Visit an institute for the physically or mentally challenged and present a report on the visit.
- Write (750 words minimum) or give an oral presentation (10 minutes minimum) on the subject of “How to make and keep friends.”
(V). Health and Fitness
- Discuss HIV/AIDS (what it is, transmission, prevention and treatment)
- Attend a Five Day Plan, or view two films on health, or make a poster on stop smoking or drug abuse prevention, or help prepare a display on stop tobacco show, etc.
- Discuss Peer Pressure and AIDS Awareness among teenagers.
- Discuss the concept, types, and purpose of dating from the SDA doctrinal point of view.
- Study the effective refusal technique as exemplified by the life of Joseph and explain why it is important to be upheld even in today’s generation.
- Seek God’s plan regarding sexual behaviors – including in view to AIDS & STIs.
(VI). Organization and Leadership Development
- Participate in a special club event such as an investiture, open house, induction, or Pathfinder Sabbath, and then critic the event to determine how it can be improved.
- Complete requirements 3 and 6 of the Drilling and Marching Honor if not previously done.
- Complete the Junior Youth Witnessing Honor.
(VÌI). Nature Study.
- Know, identify and present ten wildflowers and ten insects in your area.
- Identify and describe twelve birds in the wild and twelve native trees.
- Plan a list of at least five nature related activities that may be used for Sabbath afternoons.
- Complete two of the following honors: a. Ecology b. Environmental Conservation, c. Dogs
(VIII). Outdoor Life
- Start a fire with one match stick, using natural materials, and keep that fire going.
- Cook a simple camp meal without cooking utensils
- Review the basic lashings techniques and build one article or camp furniture
- Complete the Orienteering Honor.
- Complete the Wilderness Master.
(IX). Lifestyle Enrichment.
- Complete honor in Gardening or Agriculture
- Complete honor in house- keeping or Laundering
- Complete honor in Camp craft or Fire building and camp cookery.
- Complete honor in Chairmanship
- Complete honor in Digestion or Brain and Behaviour or CPR.
- Pass the exam to be administered by the conference exams committee with at least 75% pass mark. The exam will be derived from all the above requirements.
- Complete all assignments either typed or handwritten and compile a portfolio of your work and include or attach all the photocopies of all the necessary documents and certificates. Submit through the Luapula Zambia Conference Youth Ministries Portal.
